Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection

 

Brigitte Zarfl, graduated in nutritional sciences and food technology, worked as a university assistant at the Institute of Nutritional Sciences and a research assistant at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Metabolic Diseases and Nutrition before she started her political career.

In 1997 she moved to the Health Department under Minister Eleonora Hostasch, from 2004 she was active in EU social policy and represented Austria in the EU Social Protection Committee. In 2006 she became head of department, in 2009 group leader and deputy head of section in the Ministry of Social Affairs. On 1 May 2015, she was appointed Head of the Presidential Section in the Ministry of Social Affairs by Social Affairs Minister Rudolf Hundstorfer.

On 3 June 2019, she was appointed Federal Minister for Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection in the Federal Government of Chancelor Brigitte Bierlein.
